First Flush Sampling

Volunteer to collect samples during the first big rainfall of the year! Each year, volunteers collect samples of stormwater running off our streets into the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Sign up online or visit the California Marine Sanctuary website for more info.

Coastal Cleanup - Sept 19, 2026

Help clean up trash in our beautiful environment! Each year, Save Our Shores coordinates between 50-70 cleanup sites around the Monterey Bay, from the coast to inland parks and waterways. Adopt-a-Catch Basin

Do you live or work in Monterey? Want to help support healthy waterways? Take action to maintain clean storm drains today! The City of Monterey has built an Adopt-a-Catch Basin program to empower residents to protect Monterey Bay by preventing debris and pollutants from reaching our coastal waters.
